So, long ago I mentioned that I was part of a boot camp at a place called CrossFit. It was a group of women who met through Meetup and enlisted a gym to do a special class for us. When I first joined, I was terrified but as things moved forward (and the soreness subsided) I learned to love it.
Well, big news...I graduated! Our coach kept telling my friend Mel and I that we could be going to the regular classes. We'd do more skill work in regards to lifting and it would be a better challenge for us. Mel and I bit the bullet and attended our first three classes. The first two were good but a little scary. The instructor was rather vague and didn't go out of his way to be helpful or welcoming. He's new and many of his friends are in the class so they get most of his attention. We went through the moves of the workout and made it through but we were still pretty hesitant of working with these new people.
Would I look like a fool? Could I do what was listed in our daily workout? Would I throw up? All of these were possible and realistic outcomes.
Well guess what? Three is my lucky number cuz yesterday was our third workout and it was AWESOME! First we did dead lifts and my max was 175lbs. I think I could have gone a little higher but I was nervous and didn't want to hurt anything my first time lifting so much. A group of girls from class all lifted together which was awesome! Everyone is so supportive and cheered for one another.
Next, we had a timed WOD (workout of the Day) which consisted of three rounds of:
Run 400m
21 kettle bells (35lbs)
12 pull-ups (I'm still pretty weak so I do jumping pull ups)
My time was similar to that of my bootcamp time but more importantly I finished. I'm always a little intimidated when I get to the gym each time but as long as I finish each day (without puking) I'm happy.
I'm playing with the big kids now!!

My workout tonight calls for deadlifts and I am pretty sure that I am going to die. I will just think of you to power me through! nice work!
OMG. You are kicking ass. I am totally not wrestling you when you come to town.
You can do it Michelle. I was amazed and its was quite empowering to see all the weight at the end of the bar :) Good luck!!
